Parent Visa (Subclass 103)

The Parent Visa allows parents of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia to live in the country permanently.

This permanent visa lets you:

  • Live, work, and study in Australia

  • Bring eligible family members to join you

  • Enrol in Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system

  • Apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible

You can travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. However, please note that processing times can be lengthy — in some cases, up to 30 years.

There is high demand for permanent family visas, but only a limited number of places are available each financial year.

Applications are processed in the order they are received, and once the annual limit is reached, no further visas are granted for that financial year.
