Business Innovation And Investment
Provisional (Subclass 188)
This visa allows you to:
Business Innovation Stream: For applicants who want to own and manage a business in Australia.
Investor, Significant Investor, and Premium Investor Streams: For applicants who wish to conduct business and investment activities in Australia.
Entrepreneur Stream: For applicants who intend to undertake innovative entrepreneurial activities in Australia.
The visa includes five streams:
Business Innovation Stream:
For applicants with business skills who wish to establish, develop, and manage a new or existing business in Australia.
Nomination required: State or Territory Government.
Investor Stream:
For applicants who are prepared to make a designated investment of at least AUD 1.5 million in an Australian state or territory, and maintain business and investment activities in Australia.
Nomination required: State or Territory Government.
Significant Investor Stream:
For applicants willing to invest at least AUD 5 million in complying significant investments in Australia and continue business and investment activities in the country.
Nomination required: State or Territory Government or Austrade (on behalf of the Australian Government).
Premium Investor Stream:
For applicants willing to invest at least AUD 15 million in complying premium investments in Australia and maintain business and investment activities.
Nomination arranged by: Austrade, which identifies and approaches suitable candidates on behalf of the Australian Government.
Entrepreneur Stream:
For applicants who have a funding agreement of at least AUD 200,000 from a third party to undertake a complying entrepreneurial activity aimed at commercialising a product or service, or developing a business in Australia.
Nomination required: State or Territory Government.
Requirement: Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)
To be eligible for a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (Subclass 188) in the Business Innovation or Investor streams, you must score at least 65 points on the points test (the minimum pass mark).
The points test does not apply if you are applying under the:
Significant Investor stream
Premium Investor stream
Entrepreneur stream
Business Innovation Extension stream
Significant Investor Extension stream
