If you are a skilled employee or business person from overseas seeking to migrate to Australia, you can use SkillSelect to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). All EOIs must be completed online through the SkillSelect portal.
Key points about EOIs:
An EOI is not a visa application.
There is no fee to submit an EOI.
For certain programs, you may need to undergo a skills assessment or meet a minimum points test.
You can submit an EOI without passing the points threshold, but you may not be eligible to receive an invitation to apply for a visa.
Once your EOI is submitted, it is stored in SkillSelect and is valid for two years. Incomplete EOIs will also be kept for two years but will not be eligible to receive a letter of invitation.
You can access and update your EOI at any time. It is your responsibility to update your details if your circumstances change. It will be too late to make changes once you receive a letter of invitation to lodge a visa application.
You have gained new work experience
You have obtained an additional qualification
You have improved your English language proficiency
Your family composition has changed
These changes can affect your points score and may improve your ranking. It is your responsibility to ensure that all information provided is correct, truthful, and complete. Any false or misleading information may result in your application being refused.
You receive two invitations and do not lodge a visa application in response to either invitation
You receive a letter of invitation for a permanent or provisional visa and are subsequently granted that visa
State or territory governments have the authority to select and nominate skilled employees they consider suitable for migration.
If you are nominated by a state or territory government, you may be asked to specify the state or territory for which you are seeking nomination.
After submitting your EOI (which must include your intended visa type), you may also be asked to choose the state or territory for your nomination form.
