Skilled Independent Visa (SubClass 189)
The Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887) is a permanent visa for individuals who have lived or worked in specified areas of Regional Australia.
This visa allows you to:
Live, work, and study in Australia
Enroll in Medicare
Sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
Travel to and from Australia for five years
Visa holders may also apply for Australian citizenship if they meet the eligibility requirements.
Requirement: Skilled Regional L Visa – 887
- You must hold a subclass 489, 495, 496, 475 or 487, or a Bridging visa A or B after applying for a subclass 489, 495 or 487 visa
- You must have lived in a specified regional area of Australia for at least two years
- You must have worked full time in a specified regional area for at least one year
- You meet health and character requirements including all family members on the applicant
